Director of Marketing & Development

Job Summary

The Director of Marketing & Development (DMD) reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) as a part of the leadership team. The DMD is responsible for management, oversight and the success of business development and marketing. The DMD works with the CEO and others on the LEC Leadership Team to strategize, plan, and implement effective marketing strategies to increase awareness of services provided and promote La Esperanza Clinic.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Development

    • Provide strategic direction by

      • develop goals and objectives

      • define performance metrics

      • conduct evaluative tracking

      • monitor progress

      • regularly report on results

    • Manage staff and support the development of program goals and objectives.

    • Serve as a member of the leadership team

      • contribute to high level decision making

      • assist with implementation and organization-wide strategic planning and team activities.

    • Work collaboratively with other LEC departments and staff to identify new funding opportunities by identifying new grant options and developing innovative programs.

    • Lead and direct efforts to promote the organization’s branding. 

    • Develop and implement effective marketing and communications plans.

    • Oversee the production of all communication materials and publications.

    • Maintain and expand social media presence and track related metrics.

    • Develop, maintain, and be accountable for the departmental budget.

    • As lead event planner, oversee and ensure successful event coordination for meetings, conferences, and special events.

    • Work with CEO to expand partnerships with corporations, foundations, governmental agencies, and other organizations in order to diversify and leverage resources and fundraising.

    • Manage the development and distribution of annual publications and special projects.

    • Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization.

    • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.

    • Produce Annual Reports.

  • Marketing

    • Responsible for all LEC marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, and media relations.

    • Develop and maintain strong ongoing relationships and contacts.

    • Attend external events as a spokesperson for the organization, manning information booths and engaging members of the public to learn about the LEC’s services.

    • Analyze potential strategic partnerships for the site’s marketing and public relations.

    • Coordinate the appearance of all LEC print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.

    • Conducts community assessments, market research, and analysis for marketing strategies.

    • Develops and delivers insightful presentations to businesses and organizations to increase awareness and understanding of the Center’s mission and vision.

  • Maintains professional courtesy at all times.

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated success in special event activities including managing special events and budgets

  • Experience in management and leadership of cross department teams

  • Experience in developing effective working relationships with, and inspiring the trust of, partner organizations, speakers, community leaders, vendors and LEC staff

  • Big-picture, strategic, and creative thinking, with a demonstrated history of achieving desired results

  • Demonstrated ability to manage event details leading to overall success

  • Experience and/or interest in working with rural communities

  • Strong diplomatic skills and advanced ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to successfully manage numerous projects and events with differing and often competing deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment where independence and determination are standard

  • Knowledge of computer applications to include Word, Excel and database applications

  • Experience working with the San Angelo social service community.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, sensitivity to cultural and personal diversity

  • Flexible schedule; must be able to work some evening and weekend hours

  • Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license.

Preferred

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.

Credentials and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s degree preferred and five years of related experience

  • Minimum five years management experience
